Marine are going to Grantham Town at “the right time” according to manager Tommy Lawson.
Both clubs start their Evo-Stik Northern Premier League campaigns tomorrow and Lawson is confident of a strong season.
He admits Grantham is a difficult test on the first day of the season but is counting his blessing.
He said: “On one hand it’s a very difficult match, but on the other you’re asking yourself if it’s better to go to Grantham in August, or in November or December.
“I think it’s much better to go early, their pitch is not the best and it gets worse in winter.
Buzzing to have signed for @MarineAFC looking forward to the start of the season Saturday 👍🏻

“We think we’re going to play them at the right time as lots of teams go there when the weather starts to turn and comes unstuck.”
Lawson doesn’t want to see his team at the wrong end of the Premier table this time around.
“Although we stayed up and did really well towards the end of the season once things settled down, the aim to avoid any of that this time around,” said the manager.
“It’s a very difficult league to play in but we believe there’s a lot to be said for the group of players we have put together.
“We’ve had a strong pre-season and that’s really important. Our fitness levels are very good.”
