Jim Whittaker, the popular and well respected Abbey Hey chairman, has died the club regrettably announced.
He had been involved at the club since the 60s and held most positions in many years of service.
Abbey Hey secretary Tony McAllister confirmed the terrible news.
“Jim had served Abbey Hey for over 53 years as a player, manager, coach and had held various positions on the committee including Chairman for over 20 years,” he said.
“Jim loved Abbey Hey FC and the club loved Jim. Our thoughts and love are with his wife Celia and his family.
“There will be a tribute to Jim in a forthcoming match programme.”
