Bostik League North newcomers Mildenhall Town have completed their third summer signing this week with exciting young midfielder Jake Chambers-Shaw arriving at Recreation Way.

The former Histon and Soham Town Rangers man switches to the Hall to bolster manager Dean Greygoose’s midfield options ahead of the forthcoming 2017/18 season.

The 20-year-old defender had spent the previous season on a dual registration with Histon and Soham.

He had been the subject of interest from another Bostik North clubs, but Mildenhall have won the race for his signature.

Chambers-Shaw joins following the expiry of his contract at the Glassworld Stadium, where he played for two seasons.

Greygoose is thrilled to have brought Chambers-Shaw on board ahead of the new campaign: “We are really pleased to get Jake. He is very much in the mould of what we want here.

“He has been a target for a while now and we had to be patient while he weighed other options up. He showed Saturday some classy touches and passes and I personally have loved his work ethic both in training and games.

“We have purposely, been very careful on our recruitment this year and unlike other clubs chucking silly money and having to virtually rebuild their whole teams, we have the bulk of a `double` winning side left. There will be several more additions in coming weeks, but they have to fit in to `The Mildenhall Ethos`.

“Jake can play in several positions and very much is the type of player we are trying to recruit.”

However, Arran Mackay has left Mildenhall after six months and returned to Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side Godmanchester Rovers.

The 24-year-old defender, who signed from Godmanchester in January 2017, has returned to his former club due to work commitments.

Hall’s versatile defender and strikers made a dozen appearances, helping Mildenhall win the league title and the Thurlow Nunn Challenge Cup.

His final home appearance came in the 9-0 win over Wivenhoe Town.
