Plenty Of New Wasps For 2017/18

Chalfont Wasps have been extremely busy over the summer in preparation for the Uhlsport Hellenic League One East campaign.

With the improvement of the team during the season, certain areas and players were targeted, and recruitment has been vigorous and largely successful.

With only two players departing – Luke Graham moving out of the area, and Michael Green making the short trip to Tring Athletic – the competition for places now is very high, which hopefully should drive up standards even more.

New signings for 2017/18 include experienced forward Andy Shed, who joins from Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division side Holmer Green.

The 32-year-old numbers Chesham United, Aylesbury United, Windsor & Eton and Cockfosters in between spells with Holmer Green.

Shed is joined by former Holmer Green team-mates, midfielder Ryan Williams, right-sided player Joe Dulieu and Will Harris, who has also turned out for Evo-Stik League South East side Beaconsfield SYCOB and the FAB Academy.

Prolific marksmen Chris Hurst joins from league rivals Penn & Tylers Green.

He was in his second spell with Green, having netted 134 goals in 200 games in his first spell with the club before moving to Flackwell Heath in the summer of 2015.

Another forward, Tom Williams, returns to Wasps from Spartan South Midlands outfit Hillingdon Borough, while attacking midfielder Jonny Feaver joins from league rivals Holyport having previously been with Chinnor and Penn & Tylers Green.

Wasps also welcome two new additions to the management team. Matty Pollard will coach the goalkeepers and Gary Simpson joins Graham Potts, Jay Gould, Paul Lindsay and Gareth Williams on the first-team coaching staff.
