Central Midlands League South Division club Blidworth Welfare have secured the services of talented defensive player Aaron Pride for the upcoming season.

The 25-year-old joins the club from Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division side Handsworth Paramore.

Pride, who was a fans` favourite at Evo-Stik South side Belper Town where he played over 100 times before joining Handsworth in 2013, is comfortable playing in defence but has also found game time being used as a defensive midfielder.

Talking of his move, Pride said: “I’m just looking to enjoy my football. I’ve come here because I’ve heard manager Lewis Saxby’s intentions. I’ve heard what the lads want to achieve and most importantly I’ve come here to win!

“I know some of the lads already and I`ve played with a few of them before
. I like how things are shaping up and I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

The ex-Chesterfield youth player is looking to bounce back after a number of frustrating injuries that have hampered him over the past couple of seasons.

“I think this will be my first full pre-season in nearly four years but after some successful operations I’m ready to kick on”.
