Bostik League Premier club Kingstonian have confirmed the re-signing of defender Paul Rodgers from Vanarama National League South side Chelmsford City.

Rodgers is a former England Youth international who began his career with Arsenal.

In 2009 he went on loan with Northampton Town, a move which became permanent at the start of the 2009/10 season.

He went on to make fifty-six appearances for the Cobblers before joining Newport County in 2011, making thirty-seven appearances that season.

Since then he has had two spells with Billericay Town, and with St Neots Town, Farnborough, Bromley and, last season, Bishop’s Stortford before leaving for Chelmsford at the end of the campaign.

Rodgers initially played for the K’s on loan from the Clarets in August 2017, making his debut for the club in the win at Billericay Town and has so far made twenty-one appearances.

However, his loan ended earlier this month and he has joined now the K’s on a permanent basis and on contract.

Meanwhile, Aaron Goode, Claudiu Vilcu and Tom Collins have been released by the club.

Goode first signed on loan for the K’s in September 2007 from Queen’s Park Rangers, and, after spending some time with Tooting & Mitcham United, came back in the 2011/12 campaign, eventually making 302 appearances for the club, scoring 12 times.

Over the years, Goode has been a superb servant for the K’s.

Vilcu joined the K’s in August this year, making eighteen appearances for the club in central defence, and was club captain for the last few games under Leigh Dynan.

Collins joined from Staines Town in the following month after Vilcu, and made sixteen appearances, scoring 4 goals, including the first in the comeback in the Buildbase FA Trophy at Ashford Town (Middx).
