Bostik League North club Aveley have announced the signings of central midfielder George Doyle and centre-back Julian Smith.

Doyle joins from Bostik Premier side Brightlingsea Regent.

Millers` boss James Webster said: “George is key to how we want to play, having worked with him for the past eighteen months at Brightlingsea I know the player very well, he’s young, hungry and typifies the style of football we are looking to introduce at Parkside.

“I’m really pleased George decided to join us and I’m looking forward to working with him again.”

Doyle was previously of Heybridge Swifts, he then joined Brightlingsea Regent a year and a half ago and made a great impression, making forty-nine appearances.

Smith joins from league rivals AFC Sudbury.

A central defender who has previously played for Rayners Lane, Harrow Borough and Northwood, he joined Sudbury in July after impressing in pre-season games.

Webster added: “Julian is a commanding centre-back. He’s very athletic, strong, quick and can play so the fit was perfect.

“I’ve come up against Julian twice this season with Brightlingsea and on both occasions, I thought he was outstanding so as soon as Mark Morsley made me aware he was available, I contacted Julian right away and I’m pleased to say after coming down to train Thursday, he’s agreed to sign for Aveley”.
