Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division club Witton Albion have signed experienced striker Chris Simm and….
….taken midfielder Martyn Jackson on a month`s loan from Skrill North side AFC Telford United.
Simm started his career as a trainee at Wrexham but came to prominence as a prolific striker with Leigh RMI and Hyde United, for whom he scored thirty-nine goals in two seasons including a 6-minute hat-trick on his home debut.
He then switched to Southport for whom he scored nineteen goals and also had a loan spell with Chorley prior to joining Chester in January 2011.
Despite ending the season as joint top scorer with fifteen goals, including a hat-trick in Chester’s last game of the season against Marine, he was released by manager Neil Young and signed for Welsh Premier sideBangor City.
He scored twenty-one goals in his debut Welsh Premier season but left Nantporth to join league rivals Airbus UK Broughton in July 2013.
Following a six-game ban for racist tweets left the club last month.
Jackson, 19, is a former Manchester United and Burnley youngster who has spent time on loan at Skelmersdale United already this season to get first-team experience.
Witton manager Brian Pritchard said: “I would like to pass on my thanks to AFC Telford boss Liam Watson for helping this deal go so smoothly, along with Mike Moseley who did the majority of the work.”
Simm and Jackson join the squad that includes another new striker in Scott Bakkor, who joined last week from Clitheroe.
Adam Parkhouse has returned to Skrill North side Stalybridge Celtic after his month`s loan at Wincham Park.
