Ryman League Premier Division club Hampton & Richmond Borough have confirmed they have acted swiftly to appoint a new manager.
The Beavers have announced that Alan Dowson has accepted the offer to take over.
The Geordie spent seven fantastic years as manager of Kingstonian before resigning at the end of last season after the club just failed to win promotion.
A manager of real pedigree and with fantastic contacts within football, Dowson hold legendary status at the Beavers` near neighbours.
The likeable 43-year-old comes highly recommended to the club and arrives a day after the resignation of Paul Barry and Darren Powell.
Chairman Steve McPherson said was instantly sold on the former Millwall and Darlington defender, who has also enjoyed success at Walton & Hersham as manager.
McPherson said: “I am delighted to present Alan as our new manager, a man held is high esteem throughout non-League football.
“We sat down for coffee this morning and instantly I recommended him to the Board. We completed the formalities at the club late this afternoon and we can’t wait for the start of our new era.
“He asked to meet – I was taken aback by his enthusiasm to be involved and take our club forward. His passion is infectious. He lives 2 minutes from the Beveree so perhaps it is meant to be?
“It was all very quick and I believe we have the right man at the helm. I am absolutely sure that, given time, Dowse will bring exciting times to Hampton & Richmond. I hope the fans and players back him the whole way.”
