Steve McPherson, chairman of Ryman League Premier Division club Hampton &Richmond Borough, says he is excited…..
…..by the club’s future after securing a new long-term lease on the Beveree.
McPherson said: “We are delighted to confirm the club can remain at our historic home until 2058 after we shook hands with Richmond Council to extend the lease for a further 45 years.”
Hampton will pay a discounted rate thanks to the club`s excellent community work – and McPherson says the club owe thanks to the Borough’s support after their decision to allow us to remain. He said: “The relationship between the council and its football club is always key.
“They are really pleased with the way we look after the ground. We try and ensure we’re community friendly, and of course we want people to come here and enjoy their Saturday afternoon.
“We have a ladies side and male teams from under-7s all the way through, all wearing the Hampton kit which is really nice. “This lease extension is such great news. It allows us to have a future, something we can’t thank them enough for.
“At the end of last season we saw two famous non-League clubs – Cambridge City and Worcester City – lose their homes. Thankfully we are not in that position, something thanks to the support of the council we are not faced with.”
