Alex Pike, manager of Vanarama National League South club Gosport Borough, has announced the signing of 23-year-old former Brighton & Hove Albion striker George Barker.
Barker, who lives locally, impressed during a short run out in Tuesday’s 4-0 friendly success against Horndean, inspiring Pike to sign him.
He joined Brighton youth team in 2008 and signed his first professional contract in 2010.
In November 2012, he joined Barnet on loan deadline day and made his debut at home to AFC Wimbledon on December 8th 2012, which was the only appearance he made for the Bees before his loan spell expired.
He made his debut for Brighton in March 2013 coming on as a 78th minute substitute in a 2-1 defeat at Barnsley.
In January 2014, Barker signed for Swindon Town on an eighteen-month contract for an undisclosed fee.
With that deal at an end and on becoming a free agent, Barker has now decided the next chapter of his career will be with Gosport Borough.
