Boro Take Top Spot

The Baris Northern Counties East League was hit as badly as everywhere else in the non-League Pyramid…..

…..on Saturday, with just one Premier Division and one Division One match managing to obtain the referee`s nod.

However, the only Premier game to survive was a significant one, seeing promotion-favourites Scarborough Athletic move to the top of the table after a comprehensive 4-0 at a very wet but just about playable Queensgate in front of a crowd of 321.

Tom Adams` gave the Seadogs an early 6th minute lead, but it took until 6 minutes into the second half before the away side conceded again through experienced forward Tony Hackworth.

Ryan Blott then bagged a brace in the 58th and in stoppage time – the second of which was a powerful effort from 20 yards – to complete the scoring and take Boro a point above ground landlords Bridlington Town, who have played a game less.

In Division One, Louth Town and Bottesford Town shared six goals at the Park Avenue Stadium.

Louth, who started the afternoon in sixth place, broke the deadlock 3 minutes after half-time by scoring twice in a minute through Paul Goodhand and Nick Manders.

However, Bottesford fought back by going 3-2 ahead with goals from Dayle Hutson after 53 minutes, Danny Gibbons on 64 and Paul Morrell on 69 minutes.

Goodhand then rescued Daryl Clare`s side with an 84th minute penalty equaliser.
