Vanarama National League club Braintree Town have signed experienced defender Sean Clohessy.
At the end of August, Leyton Orient confirmed that the club and Clohessy had mutually agreed to terminate the defender’s contract after a year at Brisbane Road whene he made forty-four appearances.
The 29-year-old started his career with Arsenal but left in 2005 to join Gillingham without managing to make a senior start for the Gunners.
He went on to play forty-three times for the Gills and had a spell on loan with then-Conference (National League) Premier Salisbury City before joining the Whites on a more permanent basis in the summer of 2009.
After a brief stay with Bath City, Clohessy signed for Southend United and went on to enjoy a three-year stay with the Seasiders, making 137 appearances.
He then spent one season at Kilmarnock, and helped the team maintain their top-flight status, despite a difficult season for the Ayrshire club before returning `south of the border` with Colchester United in the summer of 2014.
He made thirty-two appearances for the U`s before leaving for Orient a year later.
