Ryman League Premier Division club Bury Town have added two new players to their squad.

Joining the club are midfielder Luke Hammond and striker Joe Benjamin.

Hammond has been playing at Ryman Division One North neighbours Needham Market this season, and also have experienced with Leiston and AFC Sudbury in the Ryman League, while Benjamin has joined after spending the opening part of the season with league rivals Grays Athletic.

Last season he featured for Lowestoft Town and Billericay Town after starting his career with Northampton Town and also has experience in the Conference South with Chelmsford City and Tonbridge Angels.

Manager Ben Chenery said: “I am pleased to get both Luke and Joe signed. We need player like them who are strong and experienced at this level of football. Luke will add plenty of grit and determination to our side, and Joe will give us much more of a physical presence up front, and hopefully form a good partnership with Remi Garrett.”

However, Ayrton Bevins, who joined on loan from Cambridge United, has unfortunately had to return to the Abbey Stadium after breaking a bone in his hand during the 2-1 defeat at home to Peacehaven & Telscombe.

He has had to have an operation and this will rule him out for around six to eight weeks, taking him past the end date for his loan spell, so he has returned to Cambridge to start his rehabilitation.
