Cambridge University Press are to withdraw from the Thurlow Nunn League at the end of the season.
They are no longer able to groundshare with Blue Square Bet North club Histon and having been unable to find a suitable alternative will return to play their games at the Cass Centre next season. They hope to be able to re-join the Kershaw League.
Chairman Nigel Atkinson commented: “The officers and players have enormously enjoyed before part of the league and our success this year and possible promotion make it all the more disappointing not to be able to continue.”
Cambridge University Press have spent three seasons in the First Division and currently occupy second place, having previously finished fourth and eighth.
They reached the semi-final of the First Division KO Cup in 2011/12 and this season reached the semi-final of the Red Insure Cup and made a very successful debut in the FA Vase.
Their final Thurlow Nunn League fixture is to be at Newmarket Town on Wednesday, May 1st.
Should Cambridge University Press finish in the top three then only two teams will be eligible for promotion to the Premier Division.
