Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West club Shortwood United have announced an important signing in Steve Davies.

Davies, who started at Swansea City and went on to play for Gloucester City, is a league winner with Cirencester Town and then last year played for Mangotsfield United and North Leigh in the Southern Division One South & West.

He is a vastly experienced wide man who will bring natural pace and width.

Shortwood manager Alex Sykes said: “Steve has been out injured since the last six weeks of last season, so initially we are nursing him back to fitness. The idea being we get a smile back on his face and get him enjoying his football again, similar to what we’ve done with the likes of Adam Mann and Will Morford in the past.

“Steve brings undoubted experience to the squad and is also a top lad in the dressing room, we are hopeful he will be fit for somewhere near the start of the season.

“Having failed to sign him in the last two years, I am now pleased to bring him to Meadowbank”.
