Blue Square Bet Premier club Gateshead have signed former Grimsby Town defender Peter Bore following a successful trial.

Bore, 25, was released by leagye rivals Lincoln City in early January.

Grimsby-born Bore, who had been playing in the Conference North for Harrogate Town prior to his arrival at Sincil Bank, made over 150 appearances for his home-town team having progressed through the Mariners’ youth system before signing professional forms.

He finished his first season in the professional game as Grimsby’s joint leading scorer in 2006/07 and having had a brief spell on loan at York City in 2008, he returned to become a regular on the Town team sheet.

Named Grimsby’s player of the season in 2009/10, he turned down the offer of a new contract at Blundell Park in May 2011 and following trial spells at AFC Bournemouth and Shrewsbury Town, joined Harrogate a week into the 2011/12 campaign.

He signed for Lincoln in January 2012 and a series of consistent performances saw him rewarded with a new season-long deal in May 2012.
