St Neots Town have announced the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division club has agreed a one-year deal with experienced goalkeeper Danny Gay.
Thirty-two-year-old Gay joins from Ryman League Premier Division side Leiston and lists Norwich City, Chelmsford City, King`s Lynn and Needham Market as previous clubs.
Manager David Batch has tried to sign Gay at his previous two clubs, and is pleased to finally get his man.
Batch said: “Danny brings experience, strength of character and has very good distribution. I am pleased to have added him to what is becoming a very talented and athletic squad.”
Batch also revealed he plans to have another goalkeeper in his squad, and has two younger triallists joining Jamie Greygoose in pre-season to consider.
Gay remarked: ‘I’m pleased to be joining such a professional set up and look forward to finally working with David Batch and Darren Plowman.”
Meanwhile, leading scorer Drew Roberts has agreed a new one year contract with the Saints.
The prolific hit man scored 29 goals last season and also helped the team into the play-off final, whilst scooping the players, supporters and managers` player of the season awards as well as the `golden boot` award for the league`s highest goalscorer.
Batch said: “We are delighted that Drew wants to be part of the exciting squad that is taking shape.”
Roberts said: “I am very happy to remain part of a great club and hope we can push on from the success of last season.”
