Ebac Northern League First Division club Bedlington Terriers have completed the signings of forward….
…..Stephen Young and defender Joe Kendrick.
Young will add experience to the squad having played for a number of Northern League teams, including Morpeth Town, Ashington, Newcastle Benfield and, most recently, Jarrow Roofing.
After completing the signing, Young said: “I have had the opportunity to play for Bedlington on a number of occasions, however the timing was never quite right. That said I now believe it is a good time to sign for my hometown club and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Manager Ian Skinner said: “I am delighted that Stephen has signed. He is a natural finisher and scores a lot of goals in and around the penalty area. I also strongly believe that Stephen’s experience at this level will help both the team and the younger forwards we have at the club.”
Kendrick joins the Terriers having spent last season playing for Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division side Blyth Spartans.
Kendrick, 31 is comfortable at left-back or centre-back and brings with him a wealth of playing experience from his time with a number of professional clubs including Newcastle United. Kendrick made over fifty appearances for Darlington as well as representing other clubs such as, Tamworth, Workington, Drogheda United, Silgo Rovers, Bray Wanderers and Mansfield Town.
In total Kendrick has made over 200 appearances as a professional footballer.
After signing for the Terriers, Kendrick said: “I am delighted to be signing for one of the biggest non-League clubs in the North East with a young, honest and ambitious manager and I can’t wait to get started.”
With the paperwork completed, Skinner enthused: “Both me and the club are delighted that Joe has agreed a deal and signed for Bedlington Terriers. Joe will not only bring experience but great quality to the current squad. I have had numerous conversations with Joe about what the club is hoping to achieve moving forward and how I saw his experience and quality helping us to achieve our aims. Joe has bought into the vision, and demonstrated his willingness to help us achieve our aims, by turning down better financial deals at other clubs. Joe will give us real quality in defence and will be a fantastic role model for some of the younger players at the club.”
