Philip Turner, chairman of Ryman League Division One North club AFC Sudbury, has moved quickly following the departure….

……of manager David Batch and his coaching team.

Turner has appointed former Needham Market and Leiston boss Danny Laws as caretaker-manager.

Turner said: “It is with regret that I have to announce that the Board has accepted the resignations of David Batch, Steve Eastaugh and Darren Plowman who will be leaving the club with immediate effect to join St Neots Town.

“The club takes this opportunity to thank David, Steve and Darren for their contribution during the last two seasons and wish them the very best of luck with their new club.

“Whilst this unexpected and rather sudden change in management has come as a surprise to all connected with the club, I am delighted to advise that Danny Laws has agreed to step up to the plate to take over as caretaker-manager of the first-team whilst the club considers its team management options.

“Danny’s first game in charge will be on New Year`s Day for a return visit to one of his old clubs – Needham Market, this will no doubt add a bit of spice into this keenly contested local derby

“Danny will remain in charge of the club’s youth development, but whilst he is covering the first-team duties the under-21s will be managed by Dave Cannon and Craig Power.”
