Jim Gannon, director of football at Blue Square Bet Premier club Stockport County, has agreed a deal that will see Matt….
….Mainwaring return to Edgeley Park.
The young midfielder, who recently signed a deal with npower Championship side Hull City, has been made available to earn some much-needed first-team football and will stay with the Hatters until February 19th.
Having been seen surplus to requirements at County by Dietmar Hamann, and without a club, Mainwaring was training with the Tigers with a view to signing a full-time deal once the January transfer window opened.
With manager Nigel Pearson moving to Leicester City in November there was a doubt as to whether his move would go through, but new manager Nick Barmby was happy to secure the former County star’s services on New Year’s Day.
Gannon said: “Matt was a player who we had great hopes for during my last spell at the club and I am looking forward to working with him again. I would like to thank Hull City for allowing him to link up with us.”
