Southern Combination League Division Two club Roffey FC have completed the signing of former East Grinstead Town, Storm FC (USA) and AD Arganda (Spain) player David Major.
Major is originally from East Grinstead, but in 2012, he began his collegiate career in the United States at Belhaven University where he played his junior and senior years.
The 22-year-old made forty-four appearances and netted 8 goals.
Major arrived at Belhaven University after playing two years of junior college ball at Barton Community College in Kansas where he was team captain.
He went on to play for National Premier Soccer League club Storm FC during 2014.
And he then moved on to play for AD Arganda in Spain.
After putting pen-to-paper after a training session, Major said he is excited to help Roffey in their promotion push.
He said: “After training is was obvious that there was a good group of lads at the club. The club has ambitious plans moving forward and I am excited to be part of it. I have also known Tim for a while now and that relationship was key to me signing.”
Manager Tim Penlington added: “David is a fantastic player and it’s a credit to the club, the players, committee and volunteers that he wanted to be part of the Roffey Project. David is very neat and tidy in possession and his athleticism will be a great attribute to the side. He can play in a variety of positions and I look forward to having him involved.”
For Roffey this is good news after the club suffered its first league defeat last weekend away to Jarvis Brook.
Major will go straight into the squad for Saturday`s SCFA Intermediate Cup round three fixture at home to Old Hastonians.
