Mark Bartley, manager of Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central club Marlow, has secured the signing of the….
….experienced Romone Rose.
Rose, who can play in a variety of attacking positions, joins from Vanarama Conference South strugglers Staines Town where had scored 3 goals during a two-month stay that ended when they had a change of management.
He came through the ranks at Queens Park Rangers and has also featured for Northampton Town, Cheltenham and Torquay United in the Football League, as well as Maidenhead United, Eastleigh and Staines in the Conference South.
Bartley said: “It’s no secret that I’ve thought we’ve been a bit blunt in the final third since we’d suffered the spate of injuries, particularly those to Devontae Romeo, Richie Whittingham and Nathan Ashton. I have also previously said that there is no point just bringing players in for the sake of it, meaning when I do add bodies to the squad it needs to be a case of filling from the top, and I think Romone fits that criteria. He’s a good age, and is determined to push himself back up to the higher echelons of the game and he knows that if he delivers here those opportunities will open up for him.
“He’s different to what we already have, and I think he’ll compliment the other attacking players in the side. I also think that physically he is a little bit ahead of the majority of the attacking players and I think the extra physicality will provide us with another weapon to open up the opposition. He will be in the squad on Saturday for the trip to Chalfont St Peter.”
