Wantage Town moved into third place in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division table following a last-gasp 2-1 win over Thame United.
Ben Gray had opened the scoring for Thame in the first half with Richard Claydon equalising for Wantage from the penalty spot 6 minutes before half-time.
The match remained tied until a minute before the final whistle when Andrew Younie popped up with the winner for Wantage to send Thame home empty handed.
Wantage have two games in hand on all around them at the top of the table which they will be eager to convert into points gained
In a remarkable match in the third round of the AM Print & Copy Floodlight Cup, Fairford overcame Premier Division opponents Shrivenham 6-2.
The match was remarkable for the fact that of Faiford’s six goals, Shrivenham contributed no less than THREE own goals!
Fairford contributed to their tally with goals from Shannon Pocock, Henry Traas and Callum Parsons. Paul Sanders and Warren Fuller scored for Shrivenham.
Since the last focus on Division Two, the tables have started to take shape with a clear group of sides breaking clear of the pack in both the West and East divisions.
In the West, sadly another side has been lost to the league following the withdrawal of Clanfield Reserves who managed to complete just six matches.
The expunging of Clanfield’s record has had a profound effect on several of the clubs that played Clanfield, two of whom racked up double figure scores.
The division has settled down to a three way battle between Highworth Town Reserves, Cirencester Town Development and Shortwood Utd Reserves with very little to separate them at this stage.
In Division One East, a similar scenario is developing but this time between four teams namely, Burnham Reserves, Binfield Reserves, Holyport Reserves and Slough Town Reserves.
In the first round of the Wycombe Senior Cup, Chinnor beat Amersham Town 4-0. Ardley United beat Hook Norton 2-1 in the second round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup and Rayners Lane went down 2-3 to Wealdstone Reserves in the first round of the Middlesex Premier Cup.
