Following Tuesday night`s EGM, Ryman League Premier Division club Margate have announced that Bob Laslett has as owner and chairman.

Laslett is a successful Kent businessman and is presently the chairman, and also founder, of global business consultancy Chaucer Group.

He was appointed a director of Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2006 and served on the Board at Molineaux for five years.

He was born and grew up in East Kent, has been married to wife jenny for forty-six years and has four sons and seven grandchildren.

Laslett is familiar with Hartsdown Park as his Auntie Alice used to live only a stone’s throw from the ground in Burlington Gardens and she first took him to see Almer Hall’s Margate side play in 1954 of which he has fond memories.

Laslett is an engineer who has been involved in the oil and gas industry for forty years.

The local business man, who assisted Keith Piper in securing Terry Brown’s employment by the club, has made it quite clear that he has joined Margate Football Club with a view to supporting, helping and assisting the club to grow and develop further and is a great believer that success is gained on the pitch with everything emanating from the winning of football matches.

It has also been confirmed that funding is in place and plans have been approved to commence work on the redevelopment of Hartsdown Park.

Everything is now in place and building work is expected to start no later than February, with a build time of twelve months
