Paul Carden, manager of Vanarama Conference club Southport, has signed Seb Usai as cover goalkeeper for the important run-in to the end of the season.
The 24-year-old from Brisbane, Australia has been training with the squad for a number of weeks
Usai spent two years with Blackburn Rovers but did not make the first-team before joining Swedish outfit AFC United last year.
He was previously with Brisbane Strikers and North Queensland Fury and arrives at Port following a short spell with Scottish side Cowdenbeath.
Making the move the other way is keeper Daniel Lloyd-Weston, who is expected to sign for Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South side Newcastle Town having been released.
Carden said: “We all wish Dan well and good luck in his future career. Dan wanted to play regularly which I couldn’t guarantee and he also has other outside football interests to pursue.”
