Only Two Games Survive in Hellenic

With the rapid decline in the weather from midweek onwards, the likelihood of any football taking place this weekend….

….became increasingly remote and in the event just two matches in the Uhlsport Hellenic League survived the recent deluges.

The local derby between Kidlington and Oxford City Nomads took place at Yarnton Road, Kidlington, with Nomads prevailing 3-2.

Tom Austin, recently transferred in from Clanfield, opened the scoring early on for Kidlington. Nomads fought back to take the lead through goals from Andrew Styles and Adam Lovegrove.

Jack Johnson equalised for Kidlington only for Cory Forbes to score what proved to be the winning goal for Nomads a minute later.

The only other match to survive was that between Thame United and Highworth Town on Thame’s superb playing surface at The ASM Stadium.

Ellis Hercules and Niall Hodgkins gave Thame a 2-0 lead with just over 20 minutes remaining but Highworth never gave up and fought back to draw 2-2 with goals from Steve Robertson, returning to the Highworth ranks after a spell at Shrivenham, and Aaron Maximen, whose equaliser came just 2 minutes from the final whistle.
