Grantham Town`s joint-managers Ian Robinson and Gary Sucharewycz strengthened their squad again ahead of….
….Saturday’s goalless draw at Frickley Athletic with the signing of Blue Square Bet North defender Lee Ridley.
Grantham’s managerial duo have tried three different players in nine game since taking over in December in the troublesome left-back berth but believe they finally solved their problems on Friday with the signing of Ridley, pictured, from Gainsborough Trinity.
Sucharewycz said: “Since we came we knew we had a problem position at left back. We have resolved that now with the signing of Lee Ridley from Gainsborough Trinity. He brings a wealth of experience with him and will be a big boost as the season draws to an end.”
Ridley, 30, has over 200 League games behind him in a career that started at Scunthorpe United and included Cheltenham Town, Grimsby Town, Lincoln City and Darlington on loan.
The 30-year-old was released from his contract at Trinity after a recent loan spell at NPL Premier Division rivals Worksop Town and went straight into Grantham’s starting line-up at the Blues as they bid to preserve their Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division status following promotion last season.
Sucharewycz added: “There are massive games ahead of us starting which are more winnable than last week. Our spirit is good, heads are not down and we are focussed on the matches to come.
“The attitude is right for the battle ahead. We have got players fighting for places in most positions. We know what our options are and are looking very good going forward where we know our system. We need to be a bit more ugly at times and scrap it out in games.”
