Ilkeston FC have announced that talented young midfielder Callum Chettle had signed a one-year contract….
…..with the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division club.
The son of former Nottingham Forest defender Steve, Chettle broke into Ilkeston’s first-team at the end of last season after impressing in the Academy side. He celebrated his 17th birthday last week and has been rewarded with a contract after performing well in the games he’s played a part in so far this season.
Chettle Jnr began his career at Nottingham Forest, playing up to under-16 level before being released and following in his father’s footsteps by joining the Premier Division club.
His father, a hero to Forest fans after thirteen years there, played for the Robins in 2004/05 before retiring from football. Now 44, he is a youth development coach at Forest.
Ilkeston manager Kevin Wilson said: “It’s a really positive signing for the club. It’s great to see young talented footballers like Callum come through the academy. He’s a good example of what we’re trying to do here at the club with bringing talented youngsters through our ranks. I hope we can see more of the same in the future.
“Callum certainly has a lot to offer and there’s no doubt that he’ll go onto bigger things in the future as he has the potential to do so. But for now I’m delighted he’s signed and I look forward to seeing him progress and grow as a player.”
