John Hindley, chairman of North West Counties League Premier Division club Stockport Sports, insists that while no official….
…appointment has been made yet, they are still in talks with a number of parties in respect of the currently vacant managerial position vacated recently by Peter Withe.
“While no appointment has been made I can assure our supporters that we are looking at the future of the club with this appointment,” said Hindley. “We want to make sure that the manager we bring in is the right man for the job and is coming here to fit in with our plans for the future of the club.
“There have been many applicants for this position, and we thank them all for expressing an interest, we have narrowed those down to a shortlist and we expect to make an announcement shortly.
“We’re a club that are looking to change the way that non-League clubs operate. We hope to put a system in place here that will see us produce players that will make it to the highest possible level. We don’t want to follow the path left by others, we want to create our own path and leave a trail for others to follow. If that is a long term plan then so be it, will we succeed, well only time will tell us that.
“We want to develop young, hungry, talented footballers who want to come here for the right reasons, to get very, very fit and to learn their craft and try to make their way into the professional game. We can assure any player who comes here that we will do our utmost to help them on their way. We give the players that commitment, which is why we are being very careful with the appointment – we want a man who is taking the job for the right reasons.”
