As pre-season began in earnest at Southern League Premier Division new boys Dunstable Town, the backroom staff have….
….been busy strengthening the squad for the challenge of Step 3 football.
Having secured the majority of last season`s Division One Central championship-winning squad, they moved early in the summer to secure the signatures of Elliott Sandy, Louis Lee and Jerome Jibodu.
This week they have also signed Shane Blackett, Josh Dawkin and another former Luton Town favourite, Charlie Henry.
Defender Blackett began his career with Dunstable before successful moves to Dagenham & Redbridge and Peterborough United.
He then moved to Luton where he made over forty appearances, before joining Dunstable`s new league rivals Arlesey Town in August 2012.
Midfielder, Dawkin signed professional terms with Norwich City, aged just 17, making three first-team appearances, before moving on to Braintree Town, Lowestoft Town and Cambridge City.
Dawkins was also capped seventeen times for the Welsh under-17s and under-19s.
Henry made just six appearances for Luton during an injury plagued 2011/12 season, before moving on to Maccesfield Town, Whitehawk and Chelmsford City.
He has just returned from a successful stint in New Zealand, scoring 10 goals in Team Wellington’s successful season in the ASB Premiership finishing second to champions Auckland City.
