Striker James Ellison, released by Burton Albion last week, has signed for Blue Square Bet North leaders Hyde FC.

Ellison started his career at Liverpool, coming through their youth system, before leaving in July 2010 in search of first-team football.

During his time there, he went on loan to Alfreton Town and Chester FC amongst others, where, upon his return to the npower League Two outfit, his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

He signed for Hyde looking for regular first-team football and made his debut as a substitute in the 1-1 Boxing Day Tameside derby draw with second-placed Stalybridge Celtic.
