Striker Jamie Wootton has joined Skrill North side Gainsborough Trinity on a one-month loan from Sky Bet League Two side Scunthorpe United.

Wootton made his senior debut for the Iron in December 2012 during a 2-1 defeat to AFC Bournemouth and the youngster will be given the chance of first-team football at the Northolme.

The 19-year-old, who had a `work experience` loan at Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division side Frickley Athletic last season, has been likened to former England striker Michael Owen by Iron boss Brian Laws as he praised Wootton’s sharpness and eye for goal.

Wootton goes straight into Trinity`s squad for tomorrow’s FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round tie at Leamington.
