Three more favourites have agreed to return to Ryman League Division One South club Lewes next season, including the fans’ player of the season.
Steve Brinkhurst won his second successive player of the season award in May, and the popular full-back will be returning next season, having agreed terms with manager Darren Freeman.
Brinkhurst was on the verge of becoming the Rooks` only ever-present player in 2016/17, but a late injury robbed him of the accolade with only two games of the season remaining.
He passed the 200-game mark for Lewes this season and has made more appearances for the Rooks than any other player in the current squad.
Joining Brinkhurst at the Dripping Pan next season will be both goalkeeper Chris Winterton and utility man Lloyd Cotton.
Winterton is another Lewes stalwart, having clocked up 123 appearances for the Rooks in his two stints at the club.
The reliable shot-stopper won the league’s goalkeeper of the month award in March – the month in which Lewes conceded only 2 goals in five games.
Cotton spent most of last season playing at centre-back, where he quickly became a key part of the back line.
Injuries hampered his season, restricting him to thirty-two appearances for Lewes in all competitions, but he’ll be hoping to improve on that figure next season.
The trio join six other players who’ve been retained on contracts for the forthcoming 2017/18 season.
