Uhlsport Hellenic League Round-Up….

Wantage Town played in the FA Cup on Friday evening going down 2-3 to near-neighbours Didcot Town, so Reading Town….

….took the opportunity to open a three-point lead at the top of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division by winning 2-1 at Newbury on Saturday with goals from Graham Lewis and Toby Nowell.

Gary Dredge replied for Newbury.

Oxford City Nomads trounced Abingdon Town 8-0. Adam Lovegrove scored four goals, with further goals coming from John Rixon, Jack Self, Ben Moses and an own goal.

Highworth Town beat Flackwell Heath 4-3 with two goals from Matty Horsell and one each from TJ Bohane and Matty Bennett. Miles Jones, Hicham Benmadani and Lewis Fogarty scored for Flackwell Heath, who finished the match with ten-men.

Thame United won 4-2 away at Brimscombe & Thrupp. Ben Connolly scored a hat-trick to add to an own goal from Brimscombe. Karl Nash and Ashley Caldwell scored in the dying minutes for Brimscombe to make the match look a lot tighter than it actually was.

Kidlington recorded their first win of the season beating Ascot United 2-0 with goals from Michael Duerden and Tom Castle.

The bottom of the table makes sorry reading for Abingdon with United occupying bottom spot with Town just one place above them.

United went down 1-2 at home to Holyport for whom Dale Wright scored both goals. Scott Davis replied for Abingdon.
