Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South strugglers Kidsgrove Athletic have confirmed the signings of goalkeeper Matt Cotton and defender Josh Glover.
The duo join the Grove as manager Peter Ward looks to strengthen the competition in the side.
Cotton numbers Coalville Town, Rushall Olympic and Romulus amongst his former clubs and has experience of being in and around the play-offs in the Northern Premier League.
Glover, a left-sided centre-back who also can play in a defensive midfield role, also has experience of playing in the NPL with Witton Albion when they previously made the play-offs.
Glover attended Newcastle College and represented the England Schools’ FA’s under-18 team.
He also had a trial at local Premier League giants Stoke City.
Ward said: “We have built our foundations on experience this season however, for the future of the club it is important that we bring in younger players with Matt and Josh, who are both 21.
“The experienced these players have gained in this league and leagues above will be invaluable as we look to stay up this season.”
Ward was also able to deliver some good news with striker Anthony Malbon’s injury news promising.
“We went to see the physio on Monday and he said that Ant’s injury is not as bad as first thought.
“We hope to have him back involved on Saturday and ready for our game next week.”
