Blue Square Bet South club Staines Town have handed former Hampton & Richmond Borough defender and skipper Dean….
….Wells a chance to resurrect his career after recently being released from prison.
Wells joined Hampton from Brentford, for whom he made one first-team appearance against Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup, in the summer of 2004 and has missed only a handful of games in this time with the Beavers, passing 300 appearances for the club.
In April Wells, 25, was sentenced to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of affray for his part in a fight between Brentford and Leyton Orient supporters outside Liverpool Street station in May 2010.
But he walked free last Thursday after serving five months of his sentence and, although expected to rejoin Hampton, was snapped up instead by the Massive.
Staines have also taken left-back Charles Dunne on loan from npower League One side Wycombe Wanderers.
Dunne was rewarded with his first professional contract in September, keeping the youngster at Adams Park until the summer of 2013.
He made impressive progress with the club’s under-18 side and has spent the majority of last season training with the first-team squad, and was included in the travelling party for the game at Huddersfield Town in August.
He joines the Massive on loan until the end of the season.
