Ebac Northern League First Division club West Auckland Town have completed the signing of central defender Josh Rowbotham

Rowbotham joins West from league rivals Guisborough Town, having been with the club for less than fortnight, having arrived following his release from Sky Bet League Two side Hartlepool United.

Rowbotham only made one appearance for Guisborough before joining West, and made his debut for his new club in the 7-1 win against Billingham Synthonia only 24 hours after signing and impressed immediately, looking calm on the ball at centre-back.

Born in Stockton-on-Tees, Rowbotham first appeared for Hartlepool in April 2011 and signed a new contract with the club in May 2014.

He left by mutual consent in October 2014 in order to pursue a career away from professional football having been at the club for eleven years.

Going out, however, is Dennis Knight, who has moved to Second Division Seaham Red Star.

Knight signed for West from Barnsley and scored on his debut at Whitley Bay.

The midfielder started his career at Newcastle United before joining Barnsley.
