Conference North newcomers Chorley have announced that midfielder Paul Woolcott has retired from football due to work commitments.

Woolcott joined the Magpies in late October 2013 from league rivals Marine AFC, who he had joined in the summer, and quickly became a fans` favourite.

He was a title-winner with Skelmersdale United and was formerly with Stockport County.

The Magpies boss Garry Flitcriot said: “I am sad to see the lad go as he is an accomplished footballer who came in and did well for us last season when we lost Tom Baker to injury.”
