Baris Northern Counties East League secretary Brian Gould has issued the following statement with regards to Division One club Askern Villa.

“Following discussions with the chairman I have agreed that Askern Villa`s fixtures be suspended for a week to give the club time to make an informed decision as to its future.

“The club has been through some difficult times lately and this is to help the club by giving it time to re-organise.

“Therefore the fixtures scheduled for this week, v Pontefract Collieries on Wednesday (5th December) and against Louth Town on Saturday (8th December) have been postponed.

“Should Askern Villa continue, these matches will be re-arranged.

“Should the club withdraw from the NCEL, then the matter will be decided at the next Board Meeting.

“This decision does not set a precedent but is a one off to assist a club in distress.”
