Wheely Good Marske On A Roll!

The wheels of Marske United showed no signs of coming off yesterday as they made it eight consecutive wins in a row, so where did a tyre come from that stopped play!?

Just after Curtis Round gave Marske a 2-1 lead after half-time at Chester-le-Street in the Northern League, the game was bizarrely brought to a halt as a tyre rolled its way onto the pitch.

The Marske Twitter account tweeted “Game stopped as there is a tyre on the pitch!” before it was removed and play resumed.

Marske speculated the source of the rogue tyre, tweeting: “We think a child rolled it down the hill at the side of the pitch.”

Usually it’s animals that inadvertently make their way onto the playing surface but this is surely a first in Non-League football.

The visitors won 5-1 in the end for their eighth consecutive win, that has lifted them to fifth.
