Bromsgrove Sporting’s great away record meets Cleethorpes’ outstanding home form. Something has to give in their F.A Vase semi final second leg this afternoon.

According to Sporting manager Paul Smith his Step 6 side are still the underdogs. But what gives him hope is the fact his side have been outstanding on the road his term.

But Cleethorpes’ have yet to lose this season on their own pitch. The winner, of course, goes to Wembley.

The first game ended 1-1 but it could have been even better for Sporting had unlucky Luke Edwards not put into his own let seven minutes after half time.

Smith said: “I think I would have taken this result going into the second leg. If you would ask the Cleethorpes manager, he would have probably said the same.”

But if the Owls were favouries before a ball was kicked, they will be even more so now.

“We know the situation,” Smith added. “They are a really good side, we know that, but we also know in the first half on Saturday we were much the better side. We were tremendous.

“The challenge is to go there and stay in the game for as long as possible. They were always going to have good spells and we accepted that – it will be the same up there, we’ve just got to go and give it everything we’ve got.”

But one thing will be on their side as they travel to Humberside.

“We are really good away from home,” the Sporting manager said. “But they are very good at home! We’ve got a good record which we are proud of so we won’t be rolling over for anyone.”
