FC Halifax Town have announced that club captain Matthew Brown has signed a two-year contract extension with the Vanarama National League club.

The 28-year-old former Chester FC defender joined the Shaymen in 2015 and has now agreed to stay with the club for a further two seasons.

Brown was on the youth books at Manchester City and has also played for Chesterfield, where he scored on his Football League debut in a 2-0 win over Plymouth Argyle.

Brown has played thirty-nine games this season, scoring 4 goals in a season which the team has kept fifteen clean sheets with Brown at the back.
