Midfielder Cameron Salkeld has extended his loan spell from SkyBet League Two side Carlisle United with Evo-Stik League Premier club Whitby Town for a second month.

Salkeld, 19, is a product of the Cumbrian club’s youth system and signed a development contract at Brunton Park, having completed his scholarship, in May this year.

Manager Keith Curle told his clubs official website: “We’ve heard good things about what Cameron has been doing with Whitby so far and the important thing from his point of view is that he’s getting looked after.

“He’s at a stage of his development where he needs game time at a competitive club. Whitby are providing that for him and this is another move that is proving to be a real benefit to all parties.”

Salkeld was called up to the Carlisle first-team squad whilst still a second-year youth team player and made his debut for the club in the Checkatrade Trophy home game against Blackburn Rovers in October 2016.

He scored his first senior goal against Fleetwood Town in the same competition a month later.
