North Shields have confirmed that Curtis Coppen has left the Ebac Northern League First Division club and signed for league rivals Morpeth Town.

The 23-year-old won the FA Vase and Northumberland Senior Cup with Morpeth during his time at the Daren Persson Stadium.

Coppen played over 120 games for the Robins, and the centre-half is regarded as one of the best young defenders in North East non-League football

He requested a transfer but, despite numerous attempts to keep him at North Shields, he decided to leave.

The club have agreed a fee and Paul Robinson will also join the club from Morpeth as part of the deal.

Robinson is a three-times FA Vase winner with Whitley Bay and has more recently played for Darlington and Blyth Spartans.
