Brighouse Town, who will be members of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier West next season, have completed their fourth signing of the week.
James Hurtley has committed to the club for the 2018/19 season.
The news comes after top scorer Aaron Martin, club captain Adam Field and managers` player of the year Connor Griffin have already committed to the club.
Hurtley, who came through the clubs` successful trials, spent six years with the club before leaving for spells with Glossop North End and Ossett Albion.
On committing Hurtley told the club`s Pitchero website: “I feel loved here, as soon as manager Vill Powell said to me I was wanted for next season there was no hesitation on my part.”
On his return and his role in the team Hurtley said: “I’ve tried to come in and go back to basics, nothing silly and take no risks. I’m 29 now so I have a bit of experience, trying to improve others and to kick on.”
Hurtley’s return coincided with an upturn in results for Town culminating in six wins in the last eight games, including a crucial winner against Mossley AFC with the club looking over their shoulder.
With the club finishing strongly, partly due to Hurtley plugging up the gap in the defence, the focus can now be on next season and a hope for Town to be challenging at the right end of the table
