Lewes FC have signed forward Marcus Elliott from Bostik League South rivals East Grinstead Town.
Formerly with the likes of Redhill, Three Bridges and Aveley, Elliott has scored 15 goals for the Rooks` Sussex rivals this season and adds even more firepower to manager Darren Freeman’s already free-scoring Rooks, who have 74 goals in thirty-six league games to date.
The signing has been made possible by a one-off donation to the `12th Man Fund`, while the money added to the kitty from the recent `12th Man Day` has allowed Lewes to retain full-back Leon Redwood on loan from Vanarama National League South neighbours Eastbourne Borough for the rest of the season.
Darren Freeman is delighted to have boosted his squad ahead of Wednesday night’s visit from Ramsgate. “He’s someone we’ve been trying to bring in to the club for some time,” said Darren. “He’s had several approaches from all the top clubs in the league and we’re delighted to have got his signature.”
“I’d like to thank East Grinstead for not standing in the player’s way and for the way they’ve handled the situation.”
“Most of all, I’d like to thank everyone who has donated to the 12th Man Fund over the course of the season to make these two signings possible. It will make a massive difference with games coming thick and fast now at the business end of the season.”
