Trio Of New Terras Help Towards First Win

Evo-Stik League South Premier club Weymouth announced the signings of Gareth Stewart, Jordan Rose and Antonio Diaz ahead of the 3-1 win at Frome Town on Wednesday night.

And all three played a part in the Terras`first win, with Stewart and Rose starting and young Diaz coming off the bench – Rose netting the seond goal.

Experienced 37-year-old goalkeeper Stewart joins on non-contract terms, Rose arrived in on a month`s loan deal from Havant and Waterlooville and Antiono Diaz comes in on a `work experience` deal from Premier League neighbours AFC Bournemouth.

Capped by England at under-21 level, Stewart spent four years as goalkeeper coach at Yeovil Town before leaving the club in April 2015.

Stewart, who started out as an outfield player and was on Cherries’ books for nine years, re-joined Bournemouth`s staff in December 2015, working with the club’s under-15s.

Weymouth boss Mark Molesley was also on the Cherries` staff at the time.

After starting out as an outfield player, it was at Blackburn Rovers that his goalkeeping prowess began.

He moved down to Dorset to sign for Bournemouth and totalled 163 senior games for them before being released in 2008.

Spells with Dorchester Town, Welling United and Yeovil followed before he took up coaching.

Rose is a much-travelled 27-year-old midfielder who returns to the Terras where he spent part of the 2009/10 season, making twenty-one appearances.

Jordan Rose

Originally with Bournemouth, he has also had spells with Bashley, Stockport County, Hereford United, Hayes & Yeading United, AFC Telford United, Tamworth, Whitehawk and Hemel Hempstead Town, joining Havant during last season.

Dorchester-born Diaz has been with the Cherries since he was eight years old.

He has been moving up the age groups and played with the under-21s as they reached the Hampshire Senior Cup final, and also was a regular in the under-18s’ Youth Alliance Cup success.

He has played as a left-wing back for the under-21s and has also been deployed on both wings and in the number 10 role.
