Evo-Stik League North club Ossett Albion have announced the first signing for new manager Andy Welsh.

Joining Albion is defender Alex McQuade, who signs after a couple of seasons in Australia with State League 1 side Banyule City.

Twenty-five-year-old McQuade hails from Manchester and started his career with Bolton Wanderers.

He left the Reebok in 2013 without managing to break into the Trotters first-team and signed for Shrewsbury Town in April 2013.

After making his League debut the following August against MK Dons, he was loaned out to then Conference side Hyde United in February 2014 and stayed for the remainder of the 2013/14 season before being released by the Shrews.

After a trial spell with Wrexham, McQuade signed for Guiseley AFC and then had short stays back at Hyde and with Farsley before signing for Warrington Town in July 2015.

He moved `down under` in February 2016.
