Gary Forrest, manager of Ebac Northern League First Division club West Auckland Town, has been busy in preparation for next season.
The first new face for the 2018/19 campaign was former Whitby Town captain Steven Snaith as reported on this sight earlier.
The 24-year-old midfielder made 223 appearances for Whitby over two spells.
Now Forrest has also signed Tom Portas.
Portas started his career at Middlesbrough’s youth academy, and when he was released, spent two years at Guisborough Town, he then joined Newton Aycliffe in October 2011, but was only there a month before he moved to Evo-Stik League Premier side Whitby Town.
He scored 10 goals in 107 games for the Seasiders and won three player of the year awards at the club in season 2012/13.
He signed for Darlington in the summer of 2014 and scored the goal of the season against Bamber Bridge.
He signed a new contract in the summer of 2015 and became a regular in the side with 128 appearances and winning two promotions.
Forrest said of the signing: “He`s a terrific player with great energy and pace. The lads a winner.”
